Man shot on bus in north Minneapolis

Metro Transit and Minneapolis police are searching for a gunman who shot a passenger on a Metro Transit bus Saturday morning in north Minneapolis.

The gunman boarded a bus on Penn Avenue and got in an argument with a passenger, said Metro Transit spokesman Drew Kerr.

"There was a shot fired, the person who made that shot has fled the scene immediately thereafter. Police are attempting to locate them at this time," he said.

Kerr said police believe the two men knew each other. The victim was taken to North Memorial Medical Center; his condition is unknown.

No one else on the bus was injured. Passengers were removed from the bus and accommodated by another bus.

Shootings on public transit are extremely rare, Kerr said.
