Today's Morning Edition music features "Run, Run, Run" by The Gestures. The song was released in 1964 and hit No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band hailed from Mankato, Minnesota, and was inducted into the Minnesota Rock & Country Hall of Fame in 2008. 

Former MPR news anchor Gary Eichten, who grew up in Mankato, remembers the year that The Gestures became rock stars. The band released only one more single and broke up shortly thereafter. "Run, Run, Run" has been featured on numerous compilations.

Today's Morning Edition music features The Gestures' 1964 release, which became a major hit in the Midwest and made folks in Mankato, Minnesota, proud.

Today's Morning Edition music is from 50 years ago today when "Run Run Run" by the Gestures entered the Billboard Hot 100, and people in Mankato, Minnesota, where the band was from, were very excited. Former MPR news anchor Gary Eichten grew up in Mankato and remembers the year that the Gestures became rock stars.  "Run Run Run" made it to number 44 on the charts and was played on American Bandstand.  But the Gestures turned out to be one-hit wonders. They broke up the next year.
