Secretary of State John Kerry has been in Geneva this week with Iranian negotiators as the Nov. 24 deadline for talks approaches. Tehran officials are signaling that they will seek to extend that deadline and President Barack Obama has said that "big gaps" still remain.

After the election of President Hassan Rouhani last year, Iran said it would cooperate further with the IAEA International Atomic Energy Agency in exchange for a loosening of sanctions. The thorniest issue that remains is the size of Iran's enrichment program.

On The Daily Circuit, we break down the talks into three areas:

1. The Basics: We'll discuss the basics of the situation. What is on and off the table? How have the negotiations been going and who is part of the conversation?

2. American politics: We look at how a negotiated deal will be received in the United States, especially among the newly elected Congress. What sort of support and criticism will any potential agreement receive and from what corners?

3. Regional reaction: How will a deal be perceived in the region?
