Pedestrian killed on I-694 in Brooklyn Park

The Minnesota State Patrol said a Columbia Heights man was struck and killed on Interstate 694 early Thursday morning. It is the second time a pedestrian has died on a Brooklyn Park highway in as many days.

The State Patrol said an eastbound driver noticed a pedestrian, 20-year-old Trevon Tucker, wearing dark clothing and standing in the right lane with his hands in the air. The driver told police he wasn't able to turn away or stop in time.

It wasn't clear what Tucker was doing on the highway. State Patrol officials said there was no indication that the driver had been drinking.

Thursday's crash comes a day after a 61-year-old Brooklyn Park man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on Highway 252 in Brooklyn Center, about four miles away.
