Neighbors rescue family from burning home

A family in Minnesota City escaped their burning home thanks to quick action by the neighbors.

A woman and three children, including a baby, were rescued from an upstairs balcony while their home burned Sunday afternoon.

John Doffing and his 17-year-old son, Jim, were outside putting up Christmas lights when they saw the smoke and fire. They grabbed an extension ladder and rushed over to the house. Winona Daily News says they were able to use the ladder to bring the family safely to the ground.

Firefighters from Goodview, Minnesota City and Winona extinguished the blaze. The cause is under investigation.
