Duluth police investigate stabbing at supermarket
A woman is dead and one man is in custody after a stabbing at a Duluth supermarket.
Police say the incident happened around 8 p.m. Thursday at a Super One Foods store in western Duluth. Officers arrived to find a woman had been stabbed, and a man was being held by three Super One employees.
The victim has been identified as 75-year-old Sally Marie Poink of Proctor.
WDIO-TV reports that Miner's Inc., the parent company of Super One Foods, released a statement saying Poink seemed to be the victim of a "random act of unprovoked violence while innocently shopping at our store."
A 35-year-old Duluth man has been booked on second-degree murder charges at the St. Louis County Jail. Formal charges are expected Monday.
