Many Minnesotans woke up to winter Tuesday morning after snowfall blanketed parts of the state.

The heaviest snow came in near Duluth. Reports to the National Weather Service say nearly 4 inches of snow fell in Two Harbors, Minnesota, and nearly 3 inches in Superior, Wisconsin.

In central Minnesota, Brainerd and Little Falls reported 1.5 inches late Monday night.

Many places reported hours of rain before the snow fell, leaving a crust of ice under the snow. It's also windy with gusts up to 28 miles per hour reported in Duluth, and over 30 mph in Worthington.

The Minnesota State Patrol handled nearly 59 crashes during morning rush hour Tuesday. People were injured in 10 of the crashes, but no one was killed; 51 vehicles spun out or ran off the road.
