2 women found dead of apparent CO poisoning in Lindstrom

Two women have been found dead of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in Lindstrom.

Lakes Area police said they were sent to a home in Lindstrom on Monday afternoon. Police said they got a request to check on a woman who hadn't been heard from at work since Thursday.

Police saw a woman in the home, slumped over on a couch. They forced open the door and found two women dead. They haven't yet been identified, but police said they were 53 and 56 years old.

Authorities found extreme levels of carbon monoxide in the home, and that the furnace had stopped. The furnace exhaust pipe was also blocked by ice and soot.

The first officer at the scene was also treated at a hospital for carbon monoxide exposure.

The deaths are being investigated by police and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.
