Next MNsure enrollment deadline is Thursday

MNsure says people who want health insurance coverage that will take effect Feb. 1 need to sign up by the end of Thursday.

MNsure pushed back December enrollment deadlines for coverage effective Jan. 1 two times but agency officials say Thursday's deadline is firm.

In anticipation of increased demand for assistance MNsure's call center will be open until 10 p.m. — two hours later than usual.

The final deadline to apply for coverage this year is Feb. 15.

Enrollments after Thursday would be for coverage that takes effect March 1. Under the Affordable Care Act most Americans who do not have health insurance by March will face a tax penalty.
