Gov. Mark Dayton on Tuesday proposed a $42 billion, two-year budget that sends much of the state's projected $1 billion surplus to education and child health.

Dayton's proposals had immediate support from the DFL-controlled Minnesota Senate, but may face resistance in the Republican-controlled House. The plan will set the stage for budget negotiations in the divided Legislature this session.

MPR reporters Tom Scheck and Catharine Richert join Tom Weber at 11am to look the Governor's proposals, their chances in the Legislature, and what they would mean for Minnesota.
