The Minnesota Orchestra is back on the Carnegie Hall schedule.

The cancellation of Carnegie appearances during the 16 month musicians lockout led to the resignation of Music Director Osmo Vanska in 2013. The invitation to return to New York to play Carnegie on March 3, 2016, is a huge vote of confidence, said Orchestra President Kevin Smith.

"It doesn't mean that we will be there every year... but I think that there is a very strong relationship that will have us coming back on a regular basis," Smith said.

At Carnegie, the orchestra will perform the Sibelius 1st and 3rd Symphonies as well as his violin concerto with soloist Hilary Hahn. The Orchestra also recently announced it will resume and complete recording of all the Sibelius symphonies.

The orchestra has returned to full quality since the lockout, Smith said, adding that he expects more invitations in the future.
