Police officer shoots at shoplifters' car in Minneapolis

Minneapolis police say an officer opened fire after being struck by a vehicle driven by shoplifting suspects outside a Cub Foods on Saturday night.

A police officer responded to the Cub Foods at East 59th Street and Nicollet Avenue South at 10 p.m., where he approached a vehicle with the suspected shoplifters inside.

Police say the suspects drove toward the officer and struck him. During the incident, the officer shot at the vehicle once.

The suspects fled the scene. Police are searching for a man and a woman in their mid-30s driving a dark-colored 2000 Ford Explorer.

The officer suffered minor injuries.
