2 vehicles break through Lake Minnetonka ice

The drivers of two vehicles ignored "thin ice" warning signs and broke through the ice on Lake Minnetonka in separate incidents Wednesday.

Both drivers and their passengers are OK.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said that at 5:40 p.m., two teenage boys were able to get out of a vehicle after it broke through the ice in Gray's Bay and the front axle became submerged in the water.

At 7 p.m., another vehicle became mostly submerged after breaking through the ice in a channel at Phelp's Bay. Two men got out and were not hurt.
