Fire Marshal Steve Zaccard says a man was able to get his wife and mother out of the house, but wasn't able to get his daughter. Firefighters were able to rescue her when they arrived.

The department says the child was taken with serious injuries to a hospital, where she later died. Three of her family members were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

It's the first fire fatality in St. Paul of the year.
