Today's Morning Edition music is from "Head Over Heels," a track from J.D. McPherson's new album "Let the Good Times Roll." 

McPherson will be performing Friday night at First Avenue in Minneapolis. 

The Oklahoma native is only 37 years old but his music harkens back to an era long before he was born. He says he's fascinated by the echo and other audio effects that were popular in the early days of rock and roll. McPherson calls the sound he produces "'50s psychedelic."
