More than 300K Minnesotans affected by Anthem data breach

More than 300,000 Minnesotans were caught up in last month's cyber attack on the health insurance company Anthem.

The Minnesota Department of Commerce said Anthem disclosed that Social Security numbers of 206,800 Minnesotans were put at risk in the data breach.

The personal information — including names, addresses, telephone numbers and income data — of another 106,800 Minnesotans was compromised.

Although Anthem doesn't sell insurance directly to Minnesotans, it does administer some employer-sponsored plans in the state. Minnesota officials said Anthem is in the process of contacting people whose personal information was comprised. The insurance company is offering two years of identify theft repair and credit-monitoring services.
