Debate over Minnesota's budget starts to pick up speed this week at the state Capitol, now that lawmakers know how much money they have to work with this session.

Legislators have many competing ideas for a budget surplus that's grown to $1.9 billion. The extra money is also deepening the partisan divide over transportation funding. Meanwhile, House Republicans have to revisit their top education bill to address some financial issues.
