Art Hounds take in the music of Paul Spring, Zoe Field's sculpture and a collaboration between Black Label Movement and the Bakken Trio.

Jeff Johnson teaches English at Central Lakes College, where he also runs their visiting poet program "Verse Like Water." Johnson is excited to be coming into the Twin Cities Thursday to see musician Paul Spring perform at Eat My Words bookstore. Spring is performing at the bookstore every Thursday in March, with a different guest artist each week. He's also got a show in Chisholm on March 10 at the Minnesota Discovery Center. Johnson loves Spring's dreamy lyrics and positive outlook, along with his solid musicianship.

Curator and artist Chris Cloud was impressed with Zoe Field's sculpture installation at White Page Gallery in Minneapolis. Field is a Brooklyn-based artist, and he was impressed that the artist collective of White Page invited her to town to create this exhibition. Titled "Autotomy," the works revolve around the act of self-amputation, which in the animal world is seen as a biological defense mechanism.

Life-long classical music lover and amateur cellist Martha Ingram is really excited to see Black Label Movement dance company and the Bakken Trio take the stage together at the Cowles Center for Dance this weekend. The Bakken Trio will be playing John Adams' highly frenetic "John's Book of Alleged Dances." The work was inspired by dance but not with any particular choreography in mind. Black Label Movement has created ten pieces to accompany the ten movements. Ingram says it should be an exciting evening, with musicians on a platform 12 feet off the ground while the dancers perform on the stage below.
