Sunday beer run becomes act of protest

Four Firkins owner Jason Alvey joined the caravan and said, "Minnesota is surrounded by states that allow Sunday sales. ... We need to get rid of this [restriction] and get with the times."

Previous attempts to overturn the ban have failed.

Proponents of the current law say it helps small businesses by limiting the amount of hours stores need to be open and staffed. The law is also supported by Teamsters who say lifting the ban would reopen labor contracts.
