Lyle "Ty" Hoffman was sentenced to 25 and a half years Tuesday for killing Boston Scientific executive Kelly Phillips at an Arden Hills gas station last August, KARE 11 News reports.

Hoffman will spend 17 years in prison and the remaining time will be supervised release.

After a monthlong manhunt, Hoffman was arrested outside a Shakopee Arby's. He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in January.

According to the criminal complaint, Hoffman, 44, and Phillips, 48, lived together for about 15 years, but their relationship ended about five years ago. Together they started Lush Food Bar. Hoffman continued to work there after their separation, and after Phillips became engaged to another man — an engagement that began a year to the day before Phillips was killed.

Hoffman was fired from the bar after Phillips noticed substantial shortages in the business' bank deposits, compared to what bar records showed, according to the complaint.
