A former Catholic school teacher in southern Minnesota will be on probation for 15 years for having sex with a student.
Twenty-eight-year-old Mary Gilles was sentenced Thursday in Mower County. The Austin Daily Herald reports Gilles must register as a sex offender, have no contact with minors and no access to the Internet without approval.
If she violates her probation, Gilles could go to jail for four years.
Gilles was a math teacher at Austin Pacelli High School. She was accused of becoming sexually involved with a 17-year-old male student in February 2014. She pleaded guilty to two of the six counts against her in December.
Gilles was arrested at her home on Oct. 6. She was fired from her job the next day.
