Today's Morning Edition music is from "I Want To Take You Higher" by Sly and the Family Stone from their 1969 album "Stand."

That album has been selected by the Library of Congress to become part of the National Recording Registry.

Each year, the library's National Recording Preservation Board selects 25 recordings that are "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and are at least 10 years old.

The first Doors album, "Sixteen Tons" by Tennessee Ernie Ford and radio coverage of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's funeral were also among this year's selections. They will be housed in the library's Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation in Culpeper, Va.
