Today's Morning Edition music is from Ibeyi, who will be performing Monday night at the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis.

Ibeyi is composed of twin sisters from Cuba.

Lisa-Kainde Diaz and Naomi Diaz are descendants of the Yoruba people who came to Cuba from Nigeria in the 1700s through the slave trade.

The occurrence of fraternal twins is much more common among the Yoruba than in other groups and it's a celebrated part of their culture.

The music of the Diaz twins is a blend of traditional and modern influences. They sing in English and Yoruban.
