Those of us who live in Minnesota are known for our fascination with the weather — and for good reason. The conditions here are about as variable and hard to predict as any place on Earth.

Those extremes are described quite eloquently in Mark Seeley's book "Minnesota Weather Almanac."

The University of Minnesota climatologist and meteorologist first published the book in 2006 and is now releasing a revised edition.

One of the things you can learn from the almanac is what normal weather conditions are for a given day. Seeley tells MPR News host Cathy Wurzer that those numbers have changed significantly since the book was first published.
