MN Girl Scout troop sees college visit as important milestone

A Minnesota Girl Scout troop is trying to working to address the achievement gap between white students and students of color.

Twenty-eight Minnesota Girl Scouts just returned from the 13th Historically Black Colleges and Universities GIRL Tour. The high school girls are all enrolled in ConnectZ — a program for low-income Girl Scouts from diverse backgrounds.

Carolyn Gates, Girl Scouts River Valleys Community Partnership Manager and trip chaperone, spoke with MPR News' Tom Crann along with Sydnee Brown, a Richfield High School senior who went on the trip.
