Dunkin' Donuts said Thursday it signed a franchise deal that will bring the coffee and doughnut giant back to the Twin Cities by the end of this year.

Ten shops, all in Minneapolis and the west metro suburbs, are expected, the company said in a statement.

Dunkin' said last year that it would return to Minnesota about a decade after the last store closed in the state. A shop opened last summer in Rochester. Other groups have announced plans to open Dunkin' Donuts in northern Minnesota.

"We are excited to expand the brand's presence in Minnesota," said Damon Dranchak, vice for Legacy Concepts, LLC, the group that will own the Twin Cities stores.
