Here's how the Twin Cities plans affordable housing

Monday night, the Metropolitan Council will hold a public hearing about affordable housing. It's part of a contentious process, held once a decade, in which affordable housing is allocated across the region.

Some argue the Met Council targets too much affordable housing in areas that already have a lot. This, critics say, intensifies geographic concentrations of poverty and racial segregation.

Last week, we talked with three suburban mayors about how their cities are responding to the proposed targets. Today, MPR News' Tom Weber talked about affordable housing policy with Libby Starling, manager of regional policy and research at the Metropolitan Council.
