Video: Screaming in Cinco de Mayo holiday
"El Grito" competitors gave a literal shout out to Mexico during the Cinco De Mayo festival in St. Paul.

At the 2015 Cinco De Mayo festival on St. Paul's West Side, many celebrated their history with a long, loud scream. "El Grito" is common in Mexican culture. It's both an exclamation of victory and a reminder of the challenges of battle. Wikipedia describes it as similar to a "yeehaw" at a hoedown, with a flourish at the end.
On Saturday, El Grito was also a contest, with the best competitors trying to express feelings of passion and pride in their calls.
