Today's Morning Edition music is from the Duke Ellington Orchestra featuring Dave Black on drums playing "Gonna Tan Your Hide." 

It was one of the songs performed when the orchestra played at Northrup on the University of Minnesota campus 60 years ago Wednesday. 

The show raised money for a new student union on the university's St. Paul campus. Construction of the St. Paul Student Center began three years later.

Today's Morning Edition music is from the Duke Ellington Orchestra featuring Dave Black on drums playing "Gonna Tan Your Hide." It was one of the featured songs performed when the Ellington Orchestra played at Northrup Auditorium on the University of Minnesota campus 60 years ago today. The show was a benefit to raise money for a new student union on the University's St. Paul campus. Construction of the St. Paul Student Center began three years later.
