A distracted driver hit four people after swerving onto the sidewalk on Grand Avenue in St. Paul on Thursday night.

The driver was heading east near the intersection of Grand Avenue and Snelling Avenue at about 9 p.m. when the car he was driving crossed over the westbound lanes and onto the sidewalk, according to St. Paul police Sgt. Paul Paulos. The vehicle hit four pedestrians, two of whom were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was apparently searching inside the car for his keys, Paulos said.

No arrests were made. It didn't appear that the driver was impaired. He is cooperating with police.
