Motorist flees police, rams multiple vehicles in Wayzata

One Wayzata police officer was slightly injured when a suspect rammed his patrol car during a pursuit early Thursday, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Police received reports of a suspicious man in the 300 block of Barry Avenue South at about 6:40 a.m. Officers responding to the scene pulled over the suspect's car but police say he immediately backed into the officer's patrol car and drove away.

The suspect rammed the officer's squad car multiple times during the pursuit and hit an uninvolved motorist, neither of the drivers were injured.

The chase ended when the suspect rammed into the side of another Wayzata patrol car. That officer was treated at North Memorial Medical Center for minor injuries and released.

The suspect is in Hennepin County Jail. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.
