All clear in Anoka after gas leak forced evacuations

Anoka authorities have reopened a roadway closed earlier in the day following a construction-related gas main break.

More than 70 people were evacuated after the gas leak on the northwest corner of Ferry Street north of U.S. Highway 10, the Anoka County Highway Department reported.

Those evacuated are being allowed to return, the highway department said.

CenterPoint Energy said workers will also have to relight pilot lights and restore natural gas service to more than 25 locations in the area.

The company says service will be more quickly restored if customers remain in their homes and businesses. Customers who miss the technicians will be able to call a phone number to get service restored.
