Eden Prairie police officer fires at motorcyclist

An Eden Prairie police officer fired his weapon in an incident that involved a fleeing motorcyclist over the weekend, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

The motorcyclist sustained a non-life-threatening arm injury during the incident. A spokeswoman for the sheriff's office said investigators will look into a report that the officer's weapon discharged accidentally.

The unidentified suspect was arrested on probable cause felony fleeing an officer and is in custody at an area hospital where he's receiving treatment.

The incident happened at about 3:00 a.m.Saturday. The pursuit ended in a residential section of Eden Prairie near its northern border with Minnetonka.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident at the request of the Eden Prairie Police Department.
