The North Star Bicycle Festival took over the streets of Uptown Friday night for the fourth stage of the racing series.

This leg, a criterium, is a course of .88 kilometers (just over a half-mile). It runs through the streets and around six tight corners with a sprint to the finish. The Amateur Elite racers complete 20 laps, the Pro Men racers do 40.

Photographer Caroline Yang, who has covered numerous Tour de France races, caught the action and the fun.

Now in its 17th year, the North Star Bicycle Festival consists of six stage races, located in St. Paul, Cannon Falls, Minneapolis, Menomonie and Stillwater.
