St. Paul jazz club reopens, gets a new name

St Paul's Artists' Quarter jazz venue, which closed in late 2013, reopens Tuesday night as Vieux Carre.

Co-owner Lowell Pickett says a couple of construction problems during renovation in the Hamm Building delayed the opening, but he believes the slightly larger space retains the atmosphere of the AQ.

"The foundation of music in the space will be jazz, but we will have other music as well," he said. "The music will be local."

Vieux Carre will provide live music Tuesdays through Saturdays, and will serve New Orleans-style food.
