Today's Morning Edition music selection features Wilco's new song "Random Name Generator." 

Wilco released its "Star Wars" album late last week without any advance warning or promotion. For the next few weeks, fans can 

 provided they sign up for the band's mailing list.  

Band leader Jeff Tweedy wrote on Instagram: "Why release an album this way and why make it free? Well, the biggest reason, and I'm not sure we even need any others, is that it felt like it would be fun." 

By all reports, Wilco put on a fun show when the band was in Minneapolis last weekend for the Basilica Block Party.
