Police shoot man overnight in downtown Minneapolis

A Minneapolis police officer shot and wounded a man in downtown around 3 a.m. Saturday morning.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers received reports of an individual with a gun in the area. When an officer responded and attempted to make contact with the man, he fled.

The officer shot the suspect near North Fourth Street and First Avenue. He was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.

A gun was recovered at the scene. Police continue to investigate.
