An end to the Boy Scouts' ban on openly gay adult leaders and volunteers

A new Boy Scout policy allowing gay leaders and volunteers was approved by the group's National Executive Board on a 45-12 vote. It takes effect immediately.

Boy Scouts of America units chartered by religious organizations will still be permitted to exclude gay adults for religious reasons.
