A man is in critical condition after he was shot by two Edina Police officers this morning.

Kaylin Eidsness, a spokesperson for the city of Edina, said officers responded to a call for a welfare check, "for an individual displaying threatening behavior," about 10:11 a.m., at a residence on the 7500 block of Cahill Avenue. The shots were fired at 10:31 a.m.

Shortly after police arrived at the residence, the suspect displayed a gun, and the officers shot at the suspect, hitting him.

According to Eidsness, the man was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. She said they're investigating whether the suspect shot at the officers.

The officers were not injured and have been put on standard administrative leave. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting.
