Minnesota Timberwolves Head Coach Flip Saunders said Tuesday he's been diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for what his doctors call a "very treatable and curable form of cancer."
Saunders will continue uninterrupted with his duties as the Timberwolves' president of basketball operations and head coach, the team said in a statement.
"I am taking it step by step and day by day to understand how to best manage this process," said Saunders in the team statement. "I am attacking this with the same passion I do everything in my life, knowing this is a serious issue."
The initial diagnosis came eight weeks ago during an exam by the team's doctor. Saunders immediately started the treatment process with a medical team at Mayo Clinic, the Timberwolves said.
