Freshmen find summer help smoothes path to college

The summer after high school graduation is often filled with anticipation and excitement for college-bound students. But for some recent grads, especially those who would be first-generation college students, it can be a difficult time. There are many preparations and decisions to make.

Mentors who work with first-generation students say it's important to maintain contact with teens over the summer to make sure they'll show up on campus in the fall ready for school.
