Sun Country names new president and CEO

Sun Country Airlines is bringing in an executive from a division of the Hallmark greeting card company to take over as president and CEO.

Zarir Erani, the Chief Information Officer at Hallmark Business Connections, will start on Sept. 8, taking over for John Fredricksen, who currently holds the position.

Fredricksen, who took the job three years ago, will become a business manager at Sun Country, and concentrate on negotiations with the pilots union, which have recently made headlines. Erani will not be involved in negotiations with pilots in any way, the company said.

"Sun Country Airlines is excited to enter into its next phase of leadership with the addition of Zarir," said Marty Davis, Chairman of Sun Country Airlines. "We are also pleased that John has agreed to stay with the company, and quite fortunate that he will continue working to resolve the company's on-going labor negotiation with its pilots."

Erani, a graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato and the University of St. Thomas, will focus on the business operations of the airline.
