Missing Minneapolis boy found safe, police say

Minneapolis police say a boy reported missing on Friday has been found safe.

Department spokesman John Elder said 11-year-old Terrell Smith was located early Sunday afternoon and is back home after officers verified his identity.

Terrell's family reported him missing late Friday. Police say he told family members he was going to Farview Park in north Minneapolis. He was last seen around 6 p.m. in the 3000 block of 6th Street North, about a block away from the park.

Police searched the area and contacted the boy's friends, but were not able to find him Saturday. Minneapolis police did not release additional details about how the boy was found.
