The American people have voted for divided government more often that not since World War II. Elected officials need to "see what they can agree on, and do that," according to Mitch McConnell, the top Senate Republican leader from Kentucky.

McConnell spoke at the Aspen Institute in Aspen, Colo. His Aug. 12, 2015, conversation with Walter Isaacson, institute CEO, was recorded. The discussion touched on a variety of topics with McConnell emphasizing that partisanship in Washington is really not as bad as it seems.
