Minneapolis light rail collision briefly delays morning commute

Light rail trains were delayed Thursday morning after a train collided with a car in downtown Minneapolis.

Metro Transit spokesperson Howie Padilla said the crash occurred near the intersection of 5th Street North and 5th Avenue North, just beyond the Target Field transit station, at about 8:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported in either vehicle, according to Metro Transit. Padilla said the scene was cleared and trains were running again on the Blue Line and Green Line by 9 a.m.
