Vikings poised to leave cramped Winter Park facilities for roomier digs in Eagan

The Minnesota Vikings may be moving their Winter Park headquarters to Eagan.

The Vikings signed a purchase agreement to buy an 185-arce site at the former headquarters of Northwest Airlines.

They currently have their offices and training facilities at the intersection of U.S. 169 and Interstate 494 in Eden Prairie.

"Not only does this location have tremendous space and flexibility for future growth, but it also offers proximity to both Minneapolis and St. Paul downtowns, as well as the airport," said team executive Kevin Warren in a statement.

Warren added that the team is starting a due-diligence phase to evaluate its options in Eagan.

The site has belonged to Atlanta-based Delta Airlines, which acquired the Minnesota airline in 2008. Two large buildings on the site have been vacant for more than a year, according to the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal.
