The Minnesota State Patrol says a 54-year-old man was killed on Interstate 94. Munson Walker, III, was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at Regions Hospital.

The State Patrol shut down the eastbound lanes of I-94 near John Ireland Boulevard in St. Paul as authorities investigated the accident.

Munson apparently was trying to cross the freeway on foot when struck in the left lane by a Toyota Camry, according to the preliminary State Patrol report.

Christopher Garza, 24, of St. Paul, was listed as the driver of the Camry.

The State Patrol said Garza and the passenger, Courtney Ohara, also a 24-year-old from St. Paul, apparently were not injured.
