Twin Cities drivers will need to deal with delays and a major detour through St. Paul starting tonight when the Minnesota Department of Transportation shuts down Interstate 94 westbound at Interstate 35E.

Lane closures are expected to start at 6 p.m. with the westbound stretch of highway closed by 8 p.m., MnDOT says. The agency is closing the road so it can remove the bridge deck on the ramp from southbound I-35E to eastbound I-94 and southbound Minnesota Highway 52, which spans westbound I-94.

Drivers will be detoured to northbound I-35E, westbound Minnesota Highway 36 and southbound Minnesota Highway 280 to get back onto I-94 west. The road is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Here's a look at other major construction hassles around the Twin Cities this weekend.

Minnesota Highway 100, Edina. The highway closes between Interstate 494 and Minnesota Highway 62 starting at 10 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Monday.

Snelling Avenue, St. Paul. Northbound Snelling Avenue in St. Paul closes between Concordia Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue beginning at 10 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Monday as crews apply a seal coat to the bridge.

I-35, Lakeville. Southbound I-35 in Lakeville will be a single lane between County Road 50 and County Road 60/185th Street beginning 8 p.m. tonight through Sunday.
