I-94 west closing tops Twin Cities weekend road woes
Twin Cities drivers will need to deal with delays and a major detour through St. Paul starting tonight when the Minnesota Department of Transportation shuts down Interstate 94 westbound at Interstate 35E.
Lane closures are expected to start at 6 p.m. with the westbound stretch of highway closed by 8 p.m., MnDOT says. The agency is closing the road so it can remove the bridge deck on the ramp from southbound I-35E to eastbound I-94 and southbound Minnesota Highway 52, which spans westbound I-94.
Drivers will be detoured to northbound I-35E, westbound Minnesota Highway 36 and southbound Minnesota Highway 280 to get back onto I-94 west. The road is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
Here's a look at other major construction hassles around the Twin Cities this weekend.
• Minnesota Highway 100, Edina. The highway closes between Interstate 494 and Minnesota Highway 62 starting at 10 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Monday.
• Snelling Avenue, St. Paul. Northbound Snelling Avenue in St. Paul closes between Concordia Avenue and St. Anthony Avenue beginning at 10 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Monday as crews apply a seal coat to the bridge.
• I-35, Lakeville. Southbound I-35 in Lakeville will be a single lane between County Road 50 and County Road 60/185th Street beginning 8 p.m. tonight through Sunday.
