Country singer Pat Boone's "Ain't That a Shame" was the No. 1 song played on jukeboxes 60 years ago today. 

It was Boone's first No. 1 hit and the beginning of a period in his career when he was known for covering songs originally recorded by black artists. 

In response, producer Bumps Blackwell says he encouraged Little Richard to sing "Long Tall Sally" so fast that Pat Boone wouldn't be able to match his vocal dexterity.
