St. Paul police are investigating after officers fatally shot a man who had been reported to be suicidal.

Police said in a statement that the officers were called to a home around 6 p.m. Thursday on a report of a suicidal man, who police have since identified as 30-year-old Philip Quinn.

Officers found the man, shots were fired and the man was hit, according to a statement from police. It wasn't immediately clear whether the man was armed or what led to the shooting.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the two officers involved in the shooting: eight-year veteran Joe LaBathe and Rich McGuire, a seven-year veteran who fired the shots. Both were placed on standard three-day administrative leave.
